Members or former members names or addresses should NEVER be posted on the net by staff or owners of the board. This is very unethical and can cause harm to Brooks from who knows what kind of creeps may be viewing the net.
This has broken the trust factor for real with Dennis for me.

Someone compared this to Nazi Germany. Being German, I'm rather sensitive to the overuse of "Nazi" in today's world. In this case, however, I think it might fit. I haven't been here in a long time, but have been a member of this group since the Greenspun days. Maybe I missed the post where we were told that we could only talk about certain things? And we weren't to question Dennis or the mods? If I did miss it, someone please direct me to it.

Closing threads that question recent events, posting member's info (under dubious evidence at best) and banning good posters for no reason....what the heck is going on here?

I will say this one time:

I have independently verified information that JOE (aka Plain o Joe), who lives in xxxx with BROOKS, has threatened my life. I chose to make the threat public in the hope that shining the light of day on such a THREAT TO MURDER SOMEONE BY A MEMBER would cause the person to rethink their pending actions. Once a THREAT TO MURDER SOMEONE is made here, all guarantees of "meatworld privacy" are null and void.

If some of you cannot understand WHY that would be true, I do invite you to make your cyber home elsewhere. I will not discuss this further, nor debate with those of you armchair quarterbacks to have NOTHING BUT WORDS invested in this. My life was directly threatened. Not yours or your loved ones. Now I respectfully submit that you consider the hard reality of what I just said.

Brooks was entirely collateral damage. When Lynnie was banned, she immediately logged on as Markus in an attempt to continue her "crusade." Because of that, Markus' account had to be removed as well. When PoJ was banned, I felt that he'd simply log on as Brooks and continue doing the things that caused his removal. (And no, it was NOT his responses on a thread that brought it on.)

Staff decisions are not up for a popularity vote. The fact that we even ALLOW discussion of these topics should be proof enough of how genuinely lenient this place is compared to many others. I WILL take whatever action I deem necessary to safeguard not only the forum and its members, but myself as well. Note that recently, there have been forays from ex-members into MY REAL LIFE. Because of that, I take a murder threat pretty seriously.

You are free not to of course, because it's not your lives that are being threatened.

Now, if you can't remain on TB after reading this post, please just LEAVE. The Internet is a very big place. My goal is to remain safe, and keep my family safe, in our real world lives. Whether or not that affects some of your "personal trust" in me doesn't matter...

EDIT: For the record, I just finished providing the responding officer with the complete details and contact information not only for the people to whom Joe made the threats, but for Joe as well. So the whole thing is now completely on-the-record with the police.

Kate, one does not handle murder threats with silence. When you have the insane Muslim call you, do you sit there and take it, or do you contact the authorities and tell people what's happening? The best DEFENSE against attacks is making them as public as possible. That way (hopefully) the person contemplating the attack might realize that there's no way to avoid capture if they follow through with it.

And THAT is 100% why I made it all public. I would MUCH RATHER not have him visiting my home with intent to do harm. Because if he does, and if I taks steps to defend myself, I'm the one that ultimately has to spend $100,000 on lawyers, and go through the wrongful death hearings. NO ONE HERE except for myself will be in that position.

I totally understand where you are coming from Kate but am not really sure Dennis can see that if he, Dennis is not able to prove in a court of law that POJ did truly threaten his life then Dennis has liabled POJ even under POJ's own name; thus Dennis has opened himself and thus the board's life and possibly mods assets, since he has made the board his property, to liable in a court of law.

Not even counting the trust factor of other members who donate and give their private information to Dennis in so doing, who now wonder if conflict arises will their info be outted publically.

Dennis when Yourdon decided to shut down the original board I was one of the members who was talking with you and others constantly about starting up a new board so we could stay together as a group. I doubt you remember that but I do. I was so grateful for your work and the members migrating to the new addy. I was also so proud of the members who wanted to continue TB so much they gave money of their funds to buy the servers and other equipment and pay the costs of running Timebomb to keep us all together as a community so you can not truthfully say I am the enemy of TB. Since the beginning I have loved Timebomb, even the old Greenspun board. Timebomb is not one person or one man.

Since you Dennis have seriously breeched the rules on member's private information and again willfully today, if the rules are going to be followed then Dennis the honorable thing is I am afraid you must step down and appoint or have the board or mods elect a new chief head. You must remove yourself from staff and regretfully have your membership in Timebomb2000 revoked.
Either do this or IMO the rules of the board mean nothing and the honor of the board in in question.

You have had a good long ride being in charge Dennis but you have seriously broken the rules. Do the honorable thing.

If in a temper, which we all know you have, you decide to shut down the board down and someone else starts one up, someone post the new addy all over all the boards members have flown to.

Since I am making this post in service to right and rules I also may be banned; if so everyone I have enjoyed your company since 1998 and hopefully will see you around and God be with you.
